Trump's Business Attempted to Hire Almost 200 Employees on Visas in 2025

Donald Trump’s family business accelerated its hiring of foreign workers on temporary visas this year, even as his administration was placing obstacles for other companies wanting to do the same, a report published recently stated.

According to information from the federal labor department, the business sought to bring in at least 184 overseas employees in the coming year for short-term roles at the former president’s Mar-a-Lago resort, two golf clubs and his Virginia winery.

The number of requests for H-2A and H-2B visas for staff including servers, office assistants, cleaning staff, kitchen staff and farm workers was the highest ever filed by the organization, and up from over 120 in the previous term, when Trump’s first term ended.

It was also the fifth time in a decade that Trump had sought to hire more than 100 overseas workers for temporary positions at Mar-a-Lago, based on available data.

The disclosure comes amid a crackdown on immigration laws by his government that has involved the introduction of a $100,000 fee on skilled worker visas; increased review of the actions of the millions of people who possess US visas; and restrictive new rules for international scholars and reporters.

In total, the business aimed to employ over 560 overseas workers over the five years Trump has been in the presidency, from 2017 to 2021 and during 2025.

Significantly, Trump was questioned by some in the Republican party this week for comments defending the necessity for foreign workers when a business was unable to find people with “specific talents” to fill certain positions.

“You can’t just say a country is entering, going to spend billions to build a plant, and going to take people off an unemployment line who haven’t worked in five years, and they’re going to start producing their defense systems. It isn’t feasible that effectively,” he stated to a host after she suggested that overseas employees lower the pay of US workers.

The White House declined a inquiry for comment, and the business did not immediately respond to an inquiry.
