The UK airline will offer free high-speed in-flight connectivity by way of satellite partnership

Flyers on the airline can soon access high-speed wifi onboard at no cost following a major deal from Elon Musk's space firm.

Complimentary and High-speed Connectivity for All

British Airways revealed that the complimentary, “reliable and lightning-fast” wifi provision via Starlink becomes offered to passengers in economy, business, or first class starting next month.

Expanded Deployment Across Several Flight Operators

The parent company for the airline, IAG, announced it had finalized an deal with the satellite firm to offer wifi access across more than 500 aircraft operated by its carriers, such as the Irish airline, the Spanish carrier, plus Vueling.

Seamless Wifi starting at Gate through Landing

British Airways stated that the introduction of this technology was part of a £7bn “transformation” plan and would deliver lag-free internet service to passengers starting at boarding through arrival, also when they are flying across oceans and remote regions.

Customers may link multiple electronics and do not need a separate login.

Existing Connectivity Offerings

Limited internet service is presently provided for British Airways passengers across most of the airline's jets using their .air platform.

Enrollees in BA’s loyalty club may dispatch texts and text-only correspondence during flights free of charge, while passengers wishing to watch audio, movies, and films during the journey who are not travelling in first class may pay between £4.99 and £21.99 for one connectivity package.

The provider maintains a system of thousands with satellites and it's run under the billionaire's aerospace firm.

Recent Upgrades for BA

Their management are striving to turn operations around following a period of cost cutting, system failures, industrial action, plus large-scale layoffs.
