The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Brutally Tactical Tabletop Role-Playing Game

The gritty universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division is being adapted into a dice-based role-playing experience. A collaboration has been formed to develop a TTRPG that explores the franchise’s post-pandemic landscape. This initiative was revealed, with a funding drive planned to begin in the spring of 2026.

"This endeavor will bring the series' unique suspense, tactical intensity, and iconic world-building to the table, providing fans a fresh avenue to engage with The Division through deep narrative and player-driven missions," states an official release.

Initial offerings will include a beginner's box, core rulebooks, a GM screen, figurines, and various premium versions.

Delving Into The Division's Apocalyptic World

In this universe, a deadly virus called Green Poison was released in NYC, sending the United States into turmoil. As the pandemic worsens, civil order breaks down and hostile groups rise, turning the urban landscape into a warzone. To restore order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of undercover operatives. That’s where the agents enter the story.

Work on the game has been in progress for about three years, and it is reportedly complete. The upcoming Kickstarter campaign will function as a preorder system to access a broader market, specifically in the United States. Production is slated to begin immediately following the fundraiser, with deliveries projected for later in 2026.

An Innovative Tactical System: The GRIS System

An early look at the game's rules confirms it uses d10s predominantly through its new GRIS system, encouraging a fast-paced and tactical approach. Agents use skills or traits to assemble small dice pools, usually between one and five d10s.

  • Rather than summing the total, players select a single “result die” from the group.
  • This die is then compared against a set challenge number.
  • Rolling a natural 10 triggers additional bonuses, such as extra damage or boosted support.

Engagements Emphasize Positioning and Situational Insight

Battles prioritize placement and environmental awareness, reflecting the video games. Factors like taking cover, height advantage, or line of sight have a direct impact dice rolls. This system is designed to reward coordination and smart positioning instead of simple statistics.

A Novel Wound Mechanic

The way health is managed introduces a interesting thematic twist. Agents have a wound threshold; taking heavy hits reduces their effectiveness by lowering the size of their dice pool.

  1. At critical condition, an agent collapses, but they’re not unconscious.
  2. They may still crawl and perform restricted acts, simulating the last stand seen in video game shooters.
  3. Any agent in this state must roll on a trauma table, potentially gaining lingering conditions like shock or crippling injuries.

An Introductory Adventure

A free introductory rulebook will be released soon. It contains a pre-made starting adventure titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, the group lead the hunt for a lost doctor squad and must thwart an assault by the violent Rikers gang, who have seized control of that Manhattan district. Further information and the complete product lineup are expected to be unveiled near the campaign launch.
