Patriots Equal Longest Victory Run Since Brady Years with Triumph Over Jets

Patriots rookie TreVeyon Henderson in action

Rookie TreVeyon Henderson has tallied five scores this season

New England tied their top unbeaten stretch since the Brady period as they defeated division opponents the New York Jets by 13 points in the NFL

Rookie TreVeyon Henderson was the standout with three touchdowns as the New England squad secured an eighth consecutive victory for the first time since star signal-caller Tom Brady's closing campaign with the franchise in 2019

Quarterback Drake Maye threw for 281 yards and a touchdown, completing 25 of 34 passes

Victory extends the New England's advantage at the top of the division as they improved to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York at the foot after falling to two victories and eight defeats

The visitors had taken the lead at Foxborough with quarterback Fields scoring a five-yard TD to finish the Jets' initial series

But the New England responded in the second quarter as Henderson scored two seven-yard touchdowns before the ball carrier grabbed a reception from Drake Maye at the rear of the endzone midway through the third period to make it 21 to 7

"That was a crucial moment for him stepping up, and it's been excellent for him to keep getting these reps," Maye said of Henderson. "He wants to be excellent."

Fields threw to John Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to reduce the lead for the visitors but Andy Borregales booted a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter as the Patriots sealed the victory
