Mystery Rosy Slime on Isolated Tasmanian Beach Prompts Concerns of Likely Algae Outbreak
Officials in Tasmania are working to identify a rosy sludge that has appeared on a isolated coast, with some scientists concerned it could be an algae outbreak.
Widespread Appearance Across Beaches
The magenta-hued slime was found on a stretch of a coastal area about 60km south of the capital. A like substance has also been documented on parts of another local beach and Little Taylors Bay.

"Thus the state needs to send a strong warning here, the government and the EPA need to act to this. We need to examine the examples we've gathered and we need to inform the people here," she emphasized.
