Liverpool's Star Issues Regret to Teammates, Says Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has shared that Mohamed Salah apologised to the entire Liverpool squad in the wake of the fallout from his recent interview.
The Incident
The striker was dropped from a key Champions League match following criticising the club and suggesting his relationship with manager had broken down.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I'm sorry.’”
The head coach has refused to comment publicly on whether he was apologised to from the 33-year-old forward.
Looking Ahead
Jones insisted that the squad's reaction stayed normal. “Nothing about him changed, his demeanour was positive and it was business as usual,” Jones added.
The midfielder also noted that a teammate fighting for a place is a positive trait. “I understand there are certain ways you can go about things,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just not start, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
On-Field Response
Their results have remained strong in the period after the interview fallout. He feels the Salah's words were not intended to destabilise the squad.
“In moments of frustration, it’s always been from a place of caring,” Jones concluded. “We’re past that now and we’re gelling well as a team, performing and starting to win games.”
