Hulu to Bring a Popular Game TV Series from the Creators of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The latest Far Cry title that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and came out during October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for celebrating action and insanity with equal enthusiasm, all while presenting engaging, socially charged narratives. Little surprise that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two visionaries whose work have embodied all of those qualities.
About the Series
Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' format by introducing a different location and ensemble in each season.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as lead producers on the series via their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the showrunner.
“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX partners constantly supports me with their ongoing belief and support.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone series. Every instalment is a take of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a premise,” noted Hawley. “To create a large-scale action show that can change from season to season, while always exploring the core of people through this intricate and chaotic perspective, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to work with Rob and bring our shared bold, ambitious style to the audience.”
A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
