Edwards and Gary O'Neil Among Wolves Managerial Contenders

Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil are two of the initial names under consideration to replace Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The previous coach was sacked on Sunday following the team's ten-game winless beginning to the top-flight season.

And Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have previous links to the club - are part of the names to be considered by the Wolves leadership.

Edwards is currently at Middlesbrough, which would create a possible obstacle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

However the ex- Luton Town head coach - who made over a century of appearances for the club during his playing career - is said to be a strong candidate for the vacancy.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys support from the club directors as they begin the search of hiring a fresh head coach.

Gary O'Neil is additionally appearing as a unexpected candidate, although he would be a surprising choice considering he was sacked by the club in December last year.

The ex- West Ham United midfielder is currently unemployed meaning Wolves would not need to pay any buyout fee.
